i've always been a Nintendo fanboy. i know it. i've tried seeing other systems. Sega genesis - the bad girl who smoked behind the school. she even talked me into buying a Sega CD and suffering through Sewer Shark.Playstation 1 2 have teased me over the years mostly because of Final Fantasy. *darling Yuna!* and yes i've given in a few times. i've even had my eye on a new xbox 360 - setting timelines for my wii, ok wii, i want online by christmas or else but it knows i don't mean it. i always come back to Nintendo, the reason: they have all my favorite games. hands down. it's true! but it also may be why i'm so behind in the online world. i've missed all the big online experiences; World of Warcraft, Halo, Quake, Everquest, City of heroes...etc. who knows what else. they all looked fun (well most did anyway)i know Nintendo is starting to come out of it's shell - stop brooding alone in it's room.

I was pretty psyched to finally quell my wiimote's insatiable battery hunger in the form of Nyko's charging station. It comes with 2 rechargeable battery packs and rubberized replacement covers. The unit works as advertised; charge, play, repeat - but 2 things slighted the experience: #1 The replacement battery covers leave the charging pins exposed to inevitable hand-sweat-corrosion. #2 The charge light indicators light up on the wrong sides, (insert controller on left, lights up on right).
While #1 seems an unavoidable annoyance, the second issue just seems like a defect. It's not a big enough problem to warrant a return for me (Yes, I can pretty much figure which controller is charging and don't really care anyway)Well, I bought it at Virgin Megastore for 30 bucks and it works, for the most part. Until there's a first party competitor out there this one seems like the best bet.

I would like to thank Circuit City for selling me Guitar Hero for 360 2 days early. Strict release dates are silly and end up making all the good new titles available in the beginning of the work week - a time I am highly prone to retail therapy and have little room for playing in my schedule. If the item is sitting in the store warehouse - please, just make it available. It's hard to imagine retailer waiting to sell something until all its competitors have it in stock. Those must be some harsh penalties for breaking the street date . So far the 360 guitar feels more solid than the ps2 which felt very hollowy plasticy to me, I always thought it was about to break. This makes a big difference for me - mo comfy. The cord though is short stuff - needs an extension for me. My better half even pointed out how lame that it was not wireless. No matter what corporate licensing issues there were, it does feel dumb to pay so much and still be tethered. But I digress - I still bought it. They do know how to bleed us don't they? I also have the creeping suspicion they won't go easy on the download prices either. Each DL song will be a whole new spot-on cover recording from harmonix's studio with guitar and bass notes each mapped in multiple difficulties. See I already made it sound like they'll be 250 points each. But enough negging out on to Mother as made famous by Danzig!

Guitar Hero can't come soon enough to the 360, I am no longer able to fight the stereotypical terrorist videogame enemy. I know it's the in vogue game enemy of the day, but it's starting to feel like a cop out in these games. Mr. Clancy do we not have real nations to fictionally square off against? And poor Mexico, what did they do to piss him off so badly that every game revolves around that country's seething miscreant strength?! Does he know something we don't? Alas I am of to destroy hordes of giant ants in Earth Defense 2017, I think it the only way . . .
UPDATE: Exciting gaming news = COD4 Modern Combat (http://www.charlieoscardelta.com/). Yes, the next Call of Duty will not be framed by Nazis and Thompson machine guns but by . . . . . wait for it . . . . TERRORISTS!SHITBALLS! Just as one damn cliche shows signs of die-off another one bloats and gurgles. MEH!It seems that UKResistance (http://www.ukresistance.co.uk/) has a similar opinion (http://www.ukresistance.co.uk/2005/11/blue-sky-in-games-campaign-launched.html) about gangs in games.
